Excited to announce the new Microbiology and Immunology Diversity Scholars (MIDS) Program! MIDS is an undergraduate research initiative established by Pitt Micro/Immuno and aims to engage underrepresented students in biomedical research. Link in bio for more info!
Very excited to be presenting my research today at the Global Immunometabolism Forum (IMF) on how #cancer #metabolism enforces immunosuppressive functions in tumor-reactive #Tcells. Delgoffe Lab @DavidFinlayTCD
These data are extra special to me. When I joined as a rotating MSTP student in ‘17, MJW and I spent the summer investigating two stories of immune cells & cancer. This is the 1st, now @nature. We hope to share the 2nd soon. These projects got me hooked on science of Delgoffe Lab
Thanks to all involved, including our four first authors @rhodesf0rd Paolo Vignali, PhD @scharpingne Natalie Rittenhouse, and funding sources including: The Mark Foundation for Cancer Research Cancer Research Institute UPMC Hillman Cancer Center NIH Common Fund!
New insights from PoholekLab, Delgoffe Lab, and colleagues suggest that even the most fatigued T cells can be revived. This opens potential new avenues for cancer immunotherapy that weren't possible before. upmc.com/media/news/080…
#Chromatin modifications and #hypoxia contribute to exhausted T cells in mouse #tumor model, according to University of Pittsburgh researchers⤵️ fcld.ly/epg8con
Can #epigenetic signaling be used to combat T cell exhaustion for cancer #immunotherapy? Here PoholekLab used CUT&RUN + CUT&Tag to characterize #chromatin mechanisms underlying T cell exhaustion - revealing new avenues for drug development. hubs.la/Q01jBj9f0
How to revive an exhausted T cell? University of Pittsburgh scientists explore how T cells in mice become dysfunction in #cancer and how to restore their #antitumor response: fcld.ly/epg8con
