Andrew Pakes MP Joanna Taylor Peterborough Telegraph Dr Nik Johnson We’ve had 20+ years of plans & strategies in Peterborough all saying we need to reduce short car trips & get more people to walk, cycle & use bus. But nothing has changed except huge car growth. Constituents deserve to hear from both you & Paul Bristow. What went so wrong?

"We should not be surprised that more of our fellow residents do not cycle. Many of our roads are busy, dangerous, and poorly maintained." peterboroughtoday.co.uk/news/politics/…

Over 60% of households in Cromwell Road where you’re leafleting do not even have access to a motor vehicle. Most of these residents rely on walking, cycling & public transport. What’s your plan to fight for the majority of constituents in Central Peterborough without a car?

The disinformation around the LTCP debate is astonishing. These are excerpts from Peterborough City Council LTP in 2010. Reducing car use has been a policy for 10+ years. But nothing has been done. Left to Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority & Dr Nik Johnson to come up with possible solutions. Paul Bristow

Hearing this funding will transform pedestrian & cycle access. Crescent Bridge down to two lanes, segregated route on Thorpe Road, reduction of carriageway on Bourges Boulevard down to Bridge Street. Finally pedestrians & cyclists to be prioritised over cars? 😊

Anyone know if further access improvements are being made to Maskew Ave? Going to be very hard for pedestrians & cyclists to access the site safely. Also a shame the off road path wasn’t improved (No. 1 LCWIP priority route). Peterborough Telegraph Peterborough City Council Paul Bristow

Thank you Joanne. Everyone needs to see this, especially MPs & Councillors. The Plan for Motorists will worsen road safety, worsen air quality, increase congestion & add further risk to those who don’t / can’t drive; especially children. Paul Bristow Dr Nik Johnson

Completely agree Paul Bristow. Too many of our underpasses are covered in broken glass, rubbish and flood after heavy rain. With the adjoining footpaths and cycle paths suffering from no maintenance. Overgrown vegetation, broken street lights and disintegrating surfaces.

We really hope that all casualties are okay, our thoughts are with them. We will wait for further detail before commenting further, but we should not forget Peterborough City Council turned down the opportunity to build a safe route on Crescent Bridge in 2021. Camcycle Active Travel England

Am told the cyclist in this incident remains in hospital following the collision yesterday - police are appealing for witnesses. The road was closed for several hours following the collision - We'll have a full update soon

Well done Peterborough City Council. These restrictions have been in place for decades, so it’s interesting to see the lack of compliance. We hope other areas can be considered in the future too. Cowgate. Midgate. Broadway.
