In a small crisis, power moves to the center. In a big crisis, it moves to the periphery. When individuals realize the center is overwhelmed, they dust off their ingenuity and start improvising locally. Thanks to anyone, anywhere, who has joined the fight against #covid.

Hillel Glazer 🖖🛩️ Charles T. Betz Emily Bache Mary Poppendieck Agree. The better engineers are less inclined towards mindless copying of practices, & more interested in understanding mechanisms of action & going back to basic principles. That said, a lot of good stuff is both easy to copy and useful: daily stand-ups, visual controls...

"Each system is perfectly designed to give you exactly what you are getting today." -W. Edwards Deming To change performance, we need to change system design. To do that requires a change in our thinking, change in our assumptions and beliefs.

When I hear a sentence starting with "The economist Daniel..." I expect that to follow with "Kahneman" and I am surprised when a different name is used. Now, what bias is that? :D

Pawel Brodzinski Mauro Strione My point is that if you want to act agile as a company, you need to connect all these different levels. Most of the time, Flight Level 2 is the missing link. Orgs have a 5 years strategy and people are working in 2 weeks sprints on stories. The rest is void.

My experience from remote conferences: I absolutely dread break out rooms. I appreciate #lag21 labels sessions with a warning "we'll be using break outs" (although not as consistently enough).

I tried to present a pure case study recently. I failed. I learned that I'm incapable. Without explaining what happened with models and data it feels like one of these "we did that and it worked so you should do the same" stories.

Look around. Almost universally all the stuff that surrounds you is a finished, polished product. And yet we expect to think in terms of MVPs when building digital products. Isn't it asking a bit too much?

Here's a tip to learn about an org. Ask top leaders what book they're reading right now. It will tell you a thing or two about where the focus of an organization is. #laldn23

#laldn23 this year is going to positively be about going back to the basics. Some of them we reinvent. Others we keep. I'd bet summer if Julie Starling's charts were from my teams even though I knew better. But they were almost identical.
