Recent polling in South Africa has shown that over 70% of South Africans believe the country is moving in the wrong direction. The top issues look to be unemployment, illegal immigration and corruption.

Almost two thirds feel their municipality is moving in the wrong direction. Using data from the recent Brenthurst Foundation survey, today's South Africa Brief looks at the key indicators for South Africa and six metros the foundation surveyed.

Findings from a recent Brenthurst Foundation survey in SA make for uncomfortable reading for South Africa’s politicians in terms of net favourablity ratings. No South African politician is recorded as having a positive net favourability.

In respect of political parties and coalitions tested, again no organisation scores a positive favourability. A sobering finding on name recognition is that the Government of National Unity (GNU) is not a term familiar to 31.5% of the voting population.
