The movie was originally called DE NIRO, the name of the dog. It was a title everyone loved, except the people who had to sell the movie. They wanted UNCHAINED, which I hated, so I proposed BULLETHEAD (based on the bullet-shaped head of mastiff-style dog breeds) as a compromise.
