This sums it up…

‘How many more women have to be beaten to a pulp, strangled, stabbed, shot, drowned or set fire to before Australia gets serious about confronting the many causes behind our rapidly worsening epidemic of gendered violence?’

Over decades we’ve made it harder for young people to get ahead
With the current rate of HECS indexation you may find that despite making payments all year your HECS debt may be higher at the end of the year than at the start
Time to address growing intergenerational inequality

The PM says HECS must be simpler and fairer. But HECS debts will jump again as the Consumer Price Index is higher than expected at 3.6%.

I’ve been pushing the government for over a year to fix the way HECS is indexed & the timing of that.

That will be a step towards fairness.

I have been asking Anthony Albanese & Mark Dreyfus to call a national emergency cabinet to coordinate crisis action incl. urgent review of sentencing laws & getting rid of character references for perpetrators. End the good blokes defence, time for mandatory sentences.

The The Courier-Mail's persistent negative coverage of Queensland premier Steven Miles raises concerns about their commitment to balanced reporting. This fixation on unbalanced reporting is highly unusual and unsettling. Something needs to be done

If the Government does not listen to the 260,000 Australians calling for fairer HECS debts, they will hear them at the ballot box next election.

I urge the Government to make HECS debts easier to pay off.

Great to see the government move on HECS.

Thank you to everyone who signed my petition - now one of the largest in Australian political history.

You acted, and it really does look like the government is going to listen.

1/2 It’s time to make HECS fairer.
The indexation of HECS to inflation means that for many young people their debt is increasing faster than they can pay it off.
Another barrier keeping young people out of the housing market

Great to see the call to make HECS debts easier to pay off gain momentum.

We're now at a quarter of a million signatures.

If the government doesn't listen to these people in the Budget, they'll certainly hear them at the ballot box next election.
