My 3rd graders participated in an awesome ExploringByTheSeat - Find us on BlueSky session today with Renata Rojas who told about her visit to the wreck of the Titanic, 2.5 miles under the surface of the ocean. Schulze Elementary

This morning we learned about sea turtle conservation in Nicaragua, and watched a live hatchling release, via ExploringByTheSeat - Find us on BlueSky

My 3rd graders had a great ExploringByTheSeat - Find us on BlueSky this morning with tiger scientist Abishek Harihar of Panthera, who spoke to us from India, where he is working to protect the biggest of the big cats! Schulze Elementary Irving ISD

My 3rd graders (& a few 4th) had a great ExploringByTheSeat - Find us on BlueSky session today w/ Alejandro Arteaga who told us about his field work in the Amazon rainforest, where he has discovered new species of snakes & other animals. Muchas gracias por compartir sus experiencias con nosotros! Schulze Elementary

After school club (4th-5th gr) had a wonderful Zoom chat w/ our awesome scientist friend Alexandra Salazar who shared info about her path to becoming a #1stgen college student, her experiences as a #LatinaInSTEM & her work w/ electron microscopes Scripps Research. Schulze Elementary

My after school club (3rd-5th graders) had the chance to ask questions about life in "the old days" when we Zoomed recently with this lovely young 80-something couple, a.k.a. my mommy and daddy! Schulze Elementary

Just picked up 3 new-ish scientist memoirs by: Gladys K Zikusoka (gorilla conservation), Lindy Elkins-Tanton (NASA's Mission To Psyche), and Melissa Cristina Márquez (sharks!)

What a cool ExploringByTheSeat - Find us on BlueSky session today w/ Mai Fahmy who told us about her fieldwork in Madagascar, where she collects leeches & analyzes DNA in their guts (from blood they have consumed) in order to monitor population levels of animals such as lemurs. Who even thinks of that?!😂

My homeroom participated in a fascinating ExploringByTheSeat - Find us on BlueSky session today with Paige Arthur of NASA JPL. We learned about her work on Mission To Psyche: a spacecraft on its way to the asteroid belt to study an asteroid made of metal. Schulze Elementary Irving ISD

Grateful for the friendship we've developed with our favorite scientist Alexandra Salazar, who spent 90 minutes (!) today in a wide-ranging conversation with students in my afterschool group, most of whom first talked to her 2yrs ago while in 3rd grade (now in 5th). Schulze Elementary
