ALIENS was released 38 years ago this week. Acclaimed as one of the great action movies and best sequels ever made, the making of story is like being on an express elevator to hell… going down… 1/51

🧵1/ Anyone else remember all the doom and gloom about the pictures earlier in the year when a couple of big films underperformed and were quickly dumped out of cinemas on to streaming? Feels very different to that general mood right now to me.

The Beast. Yes it IS still an excellent film. Falls into a few 80s action movie tropes here and there, but otherwise brutal and progressive, esp for its time. Does for tanks what Das Boot did for submarines. Crummy transfer tho - telecine from a print? Deserves a restoration.

A new firmware update for the Denon X4800, 3800 etc receivers dropped over the last couple of days. So far it seems to have fixed all the HDMI issues. Glorious. I’m no longer feeling the temptation to throw my 4800 in a dumpster.

So I think I am done here. Will be slowly extricating my account from X starting today. Find me on the other butterfly-shaped place. Thanks for everything Twitter, it was pretty great while it lasted.
