Congratulations to Navjot Kukreja Dr. Navjot Kukreja - after a fantastic PhD doing exciting, sophisticated and subtle work at the boundary between compilers, DSLs and computational science - he's been snapped up for a faculty position at Liverpool University, as part of their push in HPC.

This is the future - a model for how to build DSLs, and deliver domain-specific optimisations, within an open community ecosystem.

I'm honoured and excited to be giving the opening keynote at the IWOMP workshop next week - talking to the OpenMP community. Looking forward to lots of tough questions!

Really nice article. The other question though is "is this project risky enough, adventurous enough, over-the-horizon enough to be a university research project?". And how do I gamble my career (and the careers of my students) just enough!

Thank you to Alyssa Renata et al for hosting me to speak last night in a new series being co-organised by four cross-faculty #imperialcollege student societies. It’s a lovely initiative. The questions were wonderful and endless. #iccomputing #docsoc medium.com/@imperialinsig…

I am thrilled to be involved in this exciting new project. What's especially interesting about this unusual Quantum+ICT call is that our first job is to bring more collaborators on board to do exciting things!

Congratulations to my tutee Zak Cutner, presenting his paper "Deadlock-Free Asynchronous Message Reordering in Rust with Multiparty Session Types" at PPoPP (a top academic conference) (arxiv.org/abs/2112.12693). Based on his MEng project, supervised by the amazing Nobuko Yoshida.

In Ian Walmsley's message to staff today it is claimed the College pay offer amounts to a "mean average increase of 7.1%”. This is a misleading number as it treats the early May increase as a lump sum and then conflates that with the subsequent consolidated increase in August.

The HiPEDS Research Centre is hosting a small workshop here at Imperial College London this September 11-12, on Novel Architectures and Novel Design Automation (“NANDA”). We have an amazing programme - hope you can come: nanda-workshop.org

Happy to share Gaussian Splatting SLAM rmurai.co.uk/projects/Gauss… We show the first 3DGS-based Monocular RGB SLAM, the hardest SLAM setting. Using 3D Gaussians as a unified representation, the method only requires RGB images - No need for SfM, depth sensor, or learned prior.
