Great piece by Paul Cullen on the findings of the 2018 Major #Trauma Audit from National Office of Clinical Audit. It shows that falls from less than two metres are the most common cause of major trauma. #noca2020 irishtimes.com/news/health/tr…

irishtimes.com/news/health/30… Paul Cullen conversion rate here is similar to the UK. Length of stay is short because we have no beds. Length of stay is close to lowest in Europe. These are not ‘ soft admissions ‘. These are sick people.

Laura Durcan Paul Cullen Is it only me celebrating these figures ?? Shows our Emergency Medicine CDUs our AMUs Etc are functioning as intended ?? Remember circa 12.5 to 14% of ALL admitted inpatients in a big hospital like CUH are under the care of EM in CDU !! We measure length of stay in hours.

Well this one went down like a lead balloon. I had hoped it might prompt some reflection on the fact 30pc of patients come out of hospital within a day. The three people quoted were all doctors and no, no Dper officials were involved in the making of the article.

Paul Cullen Paul - Upside you sparked a lively debate re: distortive impact of an over-pressurized Acute unscheduled care system. Downside: (ironically given your sources) you highlighted the danger of looking at isolated data (symptoms) and anecdotes in lieu of evidenced based diagnosis.
