It's funny how so much in drawings wants to ELONGATE. You know foreshortening's a thing, but the idea of TRUNCATING stuff always feels so off. Constant battle.

Art's a game of "call and response" for me. I go into it with nothing and play by ear. Sometimes things happen. Sometimes they don't. Getting there is the fun part.

Sometimes it's just as important to analyze what DIDN'T happen as what did. Observe Bettie's midsection here...just this shape. What happened there? What didn't? Can you tell why? How might these things inform future portrayals from imagination?
