1/4 I never thought I would be using social media for this, but my very dearest friend Nick Fisher, who some of you will know from his journalism and telly work, has gone missing.

Why are teachers feeling hard up? (part 2) The cumulative impact. Nearly 25% of your salary gone! If you want to break this sequence, if you don’t want it to be even worse next year, you have to vote.

Why is there a teacher shortage? Why are we balloting? Huge pay losses explain a lot of it. A teacher who started in 2010 has lost more than £60k. Watch and find out your figure. Then share in anger.

Outrageous • MPs’ Menu in Parliament: “Pressed duck leg and caper terrine with celeriac & mustard remoulade & sour dough toast” — Cost: £4.52 (subsidised by you). • NHS Staff Menu in Hospital: “Macaroni Cheese” — Cost: £7.25 (paid by NHS nurses).

In 14 years as a doctor I’ve never known such horrific conditions. Patients dying on trolleys with zero dignity. Or screaming & moaning in corridors. Dickensian overcrowding, total implosion. Despair. Weeping staff. Abject misery. Do you care at all Sir Jeremy Hunt MP? Steve Barclay?

MPs just voted on a motion to remove private schools' £1,700,000,000 tax break. That could pay for free school meals for *all* primary school pupils almost twice over. But Tory MPs voted it down, choosing to protect elite private schools, not improve opportunities for all kids.

Dear Ofsted, Please explain why you removed the second bullet point from Caversham Primary Ofsted report when published on your site today? Is it because you realised how deeply disrespectful & dismissive it is to Ruth Perry, & shows an institutionalised lack of care?

He was a good person and did a lot for education and raising the spirits of teachers. You always had the feel that he understood the challenges, like children and valued teachers. He made you feel respected. Tim Brighouse.
