We made an investment in high precision auto steering many years ago for exactly this reason. What started off as trying to access unused P from the previous season, we realised there's also a pocket of increased moisture from summer rains as well as increased microbe activity

Isoxaflutole is the best by far as residual herbicide for sowthistle ....very sensitive to Isoxa flutole if this weed seed and therefore new weed roots are in herbicide zone .

Bio-types are always a concern Sunny. Most times commercially Simazine or Terbyne is added to the Isox to give wider weed control. Mix and Rotate Sunny 👍

Need to break an annual ryegrass stranglehold?? Try 3 years of over 95% weed seed control followed by high-level control in subsequent years. Think consecutive broadleaf crops (e.g. legume plus canola) or a broadleaf crop followed by cereal hay. buff.ly/47708p5

Always good to see the success of shielded spraying. Mopping up low numbers the key to keeping things clean 🧽.Handy to clean up brome without using group 1 or imi + residues. Loss of paraquat may alter future mixes. Chris Davey WeedSmart Roberto Busi Barry Haskins Sean Matthewson

The 40 acres we didn’t spray for schlerontina is really showing up now. Lots of mouse turds in the stems. 7-10 bushel difference on the monitor. Just reaffirms even a late crop is worth protecting.

A bit confused about all the precision ag tech for weed control? 🤯 WeedSmart’s Chris Davey sees the Big 6 as a valuable planning tool for assessing which precision ag technologies or practices have a good fit in your system. buff.ly/4Ah0GHI

Dear growers & agros, I am looking to collect ryegrass, Phalaris & wireweed seeds. If you have these weeds, pl let me know at 0427923272. For Ph & RG, will provide resistance test for some post herbicides. Thanks

2L (generic) glufosinate - on the left ——————vs——————- 2L (generic) glufosinate + 2% AMS granules - (2kg in 100L of water) on the right Ryegrass and wild radish as target weeds - 10DAT. This is not new but still spectacular to see: it’s chalk snd cheese!

Yesterday we lost about 20ha of barley. Wife took this from our house. Started from the end knife on the front less than 2m into the crop. You could turn it by hand but something obviously isn’t right lucky we have two fronts and going today with 41ft. Only crop lost.

Blocked boot at seeding time showing now how effective crop competition can be on ryegrass. I am a fan of the more competitive barley varieties for this reason.

At Lentil desiccation time, you get a good look at the year’s weed control, as well as the legacy of previous crops. 2 different clients here, 3 diff paddocks & all Lentils in 2022. Add Milk/Sow Thistle to the weed list of “I didn’t know we’d capture that at harvest”! #ChaffDecks
