The process of counting the votes for the final University of Dublin Seanad Election began this morning Ballots are still being taken out of envelopes and sorted ahead of beginning the first count, the results of which are expected late tonight.

Several candidates have been in and out of the count centre, with Senator Lynn Ruane and her team present all morning. With three seats up for grabs and Senators Lynn Ruane and Tom Clonan expected to retain their posts, the third seat is likely to be a tough battle.
