Went from 20 hours per day in bed (M.E./CFS) to nearly functional using specific and layered protocols that are time-tested. Research = 40 years - 30,000 hours.

Bifidobacteria (B) are a component of the microbiome and play a key role in immune reactions - the gut produces 70% of immunity. Low B has been shown in #longcovid and #mecfs as Dr. Sabine Hazan has shown. x.com/i/grok/share/7…

Patrick Bayer (@patrick33264855) 's Twitter Profile Photo

High immune reactions in both #mecfs and #longcovid diminish barrier integrity (leaky gut) causing damage to the barrier which induces more inflammation-creates a vicious circle. Short chain fatty acids repair the barrier and they circulate outside the gut to heal.

Microclots are a result of immune activation - these form and restrict oxygen, nutrients and immune factors to get through (roadblock). I used both natural (nattokinase and modified citrus pectin) and pharma such as Plavix. Others on X have used these. x.com/i/grok/share/K…

Numerous studies show the microbiome is altered in #longcovid and #mecfs. The gut is very important in immune modulation - key molecules are lacking - these are SCFAs such as butyrate. Tight junction proteins become weakened leading to more inflammation x.com/i/grok/share/5…

Oxidative stress is a wrecking ball for your cells and the myriads of metabolic reactions. It originates from immune reactions. It can be controlled by the of REDOX pathways which are fueled by antioxidants and the antioxidants systems built in the body x.com/i/grok/share/v…

The GI tract is compromised in #MECFS - 1/ changes in the microbiome 2. Barrier Integrity (aka Leaky Gut) 3. 70% of the immune system is located in the GI tract. This spells inflammatory reactions that spill over into the body. High inflammation is bad. x.com/i/grok/share/C…

Oxidative stress degrades tight junction proteins; these proteins make up Barrier Integrity. Without BI, the tissues become damaged and allow unwanted things to pass through creating more inflammatory processes. Antioxidants help protect BI as does certain amino acids.

Patrick Bayer (@patrick33264855) 's Twitter Profile Photo

If Barrier Integrity is compromised, the GI tract cannot hold onto bifidobacteria and SCFA producers. These 2 classes of probiotics maintain immune homeostasis (T-Reg cells etc.), so the inflammation becomes a vicious cycle. x.com/i/grok/share/d…

This published study examined 2 antioxidants (AO) on #mecfs patients using selenium and CoQ10 for 8 weeks. AO reduce oxidative stress which is quite damaging to numerous pathways in the body creating pain, fatigue etc. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC90…

Patrick Bayer (@patrick33264855) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Low levels of SCFA producers were found in #MECFS people in 2 studies. High oxidative stress (immune) create a hostile environment for to be low; bifidobacteria is necessary for SCFA production, sabine hazan md has proven this Stella Chadwick | Functional Medicine x.com/i/grok/share/r…

Seldom do I read about the importance of protein in #mecfs posts. Basic nutrition textbooks will always place protein in the introductory pages - critical for immune, neurological etc. x.com/i/grok/share/K…

I haven’t been able to watch this, but some of the transcript texts are fascinating. This woman with Severe ME had an autoimmune folate deficiency (which is a known thing) & folinic acid helped her significantly (alongside other more usual things we try). Had to be folinic acid.

I have posted before about Barrier Integrity which is important. Oxidative stress degrades BI, certain proteins and nutrients help protect BI - selenium popped up in some recent queries in that it helps protect BI x.com/i/grok/share/l…
