Tullamore’s fourth intermediate title after 1953, 1999 and 2004. Phil O’Reilly, Andy Gallagher and Eamonn Fox still with us from 1953 team. Shane Dooley wins second IFC to go with 2004. Brian O’Reilly the first clubman to win intermediate titles as player (1999) and manager.

We held our annual awards dinner, proudly supported by Dalata Hotel Group, at the Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge last night. Receiving our Lifetime Achievement Award was the legendary Ger Canning of RTÉ, with Brian Kelly (Meath GAA) named PRO of the Year. 1/4

• First three-in-a-row in 99 years. • 31st SFC title (although two ‘unofficial’ titles in 1890 and ‘91 not included in that tally). • 41st senior title in all. • Paul McConway the second clubman, after Phil O’Reilly Jr, to win Dowling Cup as captain and manager. 💙💙💙

It’s been a great honour to be part of the All Stars scheme since 2012 but this is my final year and this team is the last that I was a selector for. Never going to get unanimous approval but I think we’ve picked a good team.

Son of Offaly 1982 All-Ireland winner, Mick. Spent his early years in Tullamore before the family relocated to Cork and finally settled in Tipperary.

Liam and Martin Keoghan just the fifth father and son to win All Stars in hurling after Fan/Philly Larkin, Richie Power Sr/Jr, Ken/Brian Hogan and Tommy/Nickie Quaid. The Keoghans both won their All Stars in years where Kilkenny lost an All-Ireland semi-final (Liam in 1997).

David Clifford becomes the first player to win this version of Footballer of the Year three times, though fellow Kerryman Jack O’Shea won the Texaco award four times in the ‘80s when it was the most prestigious of its time. I’d say Clifford might get there eventually somehow…
