Good to catch up with @foxysdeli owner Sian over coffee in one of the parklets. Surprised and disappointed that Vale Council ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ท๓ ฌ๓ ณ๓ ฟ๐บ๐ฆ are planning to remove the parklets from our town centre. They are an inspiring use of public space and a much loved and well used community asset. 1/2

HaltCricklewoodLTNs "Who really thinks Parklets are a good idea, seriously?" In general, I'd say it's people outside cars. Workers, students and shoppers who want to sit down somewhere for a few minutes. Here are a couple of examples of such people in Hammersmith:

Nick Mills from Newstalk ZB challenged me to take a photo to prove that people use Parklets. Strangely, it wasn't that hard.

PhoneKills The Traffic Camera Consulting Group H&F Council Stephen Cowan ๐ฌ๐ง๐บ๐ฆ London Cycling Campaign Precisely. No cyclist is grieving for the loss of that murder strip. Parklets on roads like this are brilliant. They are changing the nature and purpose of the road. Funny watching these bellends concern trolling for cyclists because theyโve lost their minds over a parklet.

Eddie Simpson Greg BBC News (UK) Think of it as space in the public realm. In most of the world, people run micro-businesses on the street. You can put a parklet there so old geezers can sit down & chat, like in Spain. You've been conditioned to see it only as car-space.

We've opened a new pocket park on Marvin St, as the first part of our transformation of the Hackney Central area ๐ณ The dead-end road is now a green public space with a dockless cycle bay and EV charging Made possible by Meristem Design and funding from the UK Government
