Phoenician cosmetic dish carved from a Tridacna squamosa shell, a giant saltwater clam that flourished in the warm waters of the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf. Decorated with a human face, and on the underside, sphinxes, lotus buds and flowers. c.6th century BC.
