Had an incredible time at the Cell Polarity GRC learning about so much cool science, seeing old friends, and meeting new ones! Particularly excited to be the next Cell Polarity GRS chair along with Parijat Sil - hope everyone comes back next time!

Just referred to head as anterior in a photo of an xray to my doctor spouse who looked at me like I was nuts. ApPaReNtLy anterior and posterior are human belly and back. I said that was ventral and dorsal but apparently those aren’t used to refer to humans 😭 RIP human D-V axis

Had such a great time working with the best undergrad this summer! So proud of Rachel’s impressive new HCR skills (below)! Sad she’s going back to class/can’t be in lab full time this fall, but am very lucky she’s going to continue working with me on our pronephric adventures 🐟

If you’re not from the US South, you might not know the devastation Hurricane Helene just caused. But some of the places I love most have been absolutely destroyed. If you can, please consider donating to a relief fund: redcross.org/donate/dr/hurr…

Tip for PIs who want to be haunted with "What if my people manipulated stuff.." and similar spooky thoughts, all you have to do is to repeat "If I don't get this grant, I don't think I can support you next year", followed immediately by a vivid description of the desired data for

Happy Election Day to all of the other swing state expats who have spent months begging your swing state parents to vote to protect your rights (to no avail) 🇺🇸

My biggest ick was I felt the public didn’t really have a say — and no one seemed that interested in giving them one. Biden ‘20 became Biden ‘24 behind a set of assumptions that insiders made talking to themselves. I just thought that was such a risk and no one was talking abt it
