BOOM 💥 Our nature paper is out and is featured on the front cover of the issue. The paper, led by Martijn Oei, is about a giant radio outflow (7 Mpc) from an active galaxy at z~0.9. This has potential implications on the magnetization of the LSS... nature.com/articles/s4158…

The landscape of the Universe can be discerned by the motion of galaxies toward mass concentrations and away from voids. Here, Valade et al. segment space into 'basins of attraction', mapped with 56 thousand galaxy velocities. nature.com/articles/s4155… / rdcu.be/dVh3s

If you know anyone (incl. yourself) interested in a DPhil at Oxford in plasma/astro, here are the projects for 10/2025 start. We have quite a few this year, and a fair amount of funding, so not only is this the opportunity of a lifetime but it's also real. www-thphys.physics.ox.ac.uk/research/plasm…

📢📢📢 Now you can find the published version here: doi.org/10.3847/1538-4… The last version has the same conclusions but a couple of new cool plots (Astro Plot of the Week) !

On arXiv: the deepest observation ever carried out by Low Frequency Array, by Shimwell+ We used 505 h of data at 150 MHz on the ELAIS-N1 field and produced a 6" image (rms 10.7 muJy/b) and a catalog of +150k sources (see lofar-surveys.org/deepfields_dr2…). Stay tuned for more... arxiv.org/abs/2501.04093

New study in preprint. In this study we test if supernova-driven turbulence, a large component of the turbulence in our Galaxy, resembles classical Kolmogorov-style turbulence, as it is regularly assumed. It does not. arxiv.org/abs/2501.09855

The most massive black holes in the universe might be able to cook for themselves! A new survey of galaxy clusters provides evidence that outbursts from black holes can help black holes feed themselves. More about the discovery: s.si.edu/filaments25
