A belated #ThinSectionThursday and happy #FossilFriday from these trippy intensity surfaces generated from a thin section. It’s like a mini topo map to help count LAGs 🗺️⛰️🔬

Took some very special family members to the Field Museum members’ night to see the #fullontogeneticseries & the #ChicagoArchaeopteryx and had a fantastic time chatting about bone histology to everyone that came by! #ThinSectionThursday

Happy #FossilFriday from #archaeopteryx Field Museum. Photos do not do this specimen justice. Akiko Shinya & Connie Van Beek have outdone themselves with this masterpiece of prep. Congratulations to all! #Dinosaur #Paleontology

For today's #FossilFriday it's Dimetrodon milleri at the Museum of Comparative Zoology. Rather small for a Dimetrodon, this species has previously been reported as sexually dimorphic although the evidence is tenuous at best.

It’s hard to believe how fast 12 days in Elliot has flown by. Moved some serious rock, extracted tons of fossils, and made many memories working with such a great team ⚖️🦕⛏️

Happy #thinsectionthursday In less than 1 week, I'll kick off the Evolution of Mammalian Life Histories symposium with a deep dive into 3D bone histology of the earliest synapsids 🩻🦴🔬👀 See you at #2024SVP!
