Hello Bozeman! Great to be in the heart of dinosaur country. There's no place quite like Museum of the Rockies and Anne Brusatte & I are excited to meet lots of fossil enthusiasts this weekend. And look at all those books!

Happy #FossilFriday! This is #Magnuviator (#MOR6627), an ancient relative of modern iguanas. Discovered at the #dinosaur nesting ground #EggMountain in #Montana, its many small peg-like teeth suggest it may have fed on #Cretaceous wasps and other insects.

Happy #FossilFriday! This field season began with an expedition to the #Cretaceous Two Medicine Formation where the state #fossil, #Maiasaura, was found. Exciting new discoveries are still being made in this area, including #dinosaur eggs, nests, skeletons, & more!

Happy #FossilFriday! Nearly a dozen #teeth of #Deinonychus, a relative of #Velociraptor, were found near the skeleton of this plant-eating #Tenontosaurus (#MOR682). This #fossil evidence suggests Deinonychus and other #raptors hunted & fed in packs.

Happy #FossilFriday! #Hadrosaurs (duck-billed dinosaurs) like #Edmontosaurus (#MOR003) had jaws filled with hundreds of #teeth stacked in columns. This “dental battery” helped hadrosaurs grind vegetation and become one of the dominant groups of #dinosaurs in the #Cretaceous.

Happy #FossilFriday! #Ammonites were shelled #cephalopods🐙 that existed for ~430 million years. The shells of these octopus relatives came in a variety of shapes. #MORIV3299 is a specimen of #Didymoceras, an ammonite with a shell that coiled to a “paperclip📎” shape at the end.
