I don’t understand Carpenter Media Group’s MO. How come you guys can buy more than 20 papers in Oregon this month, but can’t keep on 10 essential journalists in Everett? In solidarity with the striking workers of the Everett Herald today. The readers certainly have noticed!

The Everett Herald is a pillar of the community, & that pillar cannot stand without quality journalists & staff. Today, I stood alongside Everett NewsGuild ✊ members & Herald staff who participated in a one-day strike & picket in response to the wave of layoffs last week.

Good morning! With the Everett NewsGuild ✊ extending its strike, please do not cross the picket line in person or virtually. Also, we're close to $13k on the GoFundMe, let's get it!: gofundme.com/f/everett-news… Shoutout to @snocaleb for the updates.

After creating a sense of false urgency in last week’s layoff announcement, the Everett Herald has now dilly dallied on giving us bargaining dates. We’ve demanded Sound Publishing and Tim Prince give us bargaining dates and delay the projected layoff date by at least a month.

strike day 2: a driver stopped this morning on 41st and Colby to give us his support: "I've been a subscriber for 50 years, and I don't like what they're doing," he said with his window rolled down. READERS NOTICE.

Eric Nalder is a journalism legend in the Pacific Northwest. Here's a letter he wrote today to the new leadership of the Everett Herald, which has laid off about half its newsroom staff. (Stay to the kicker.)

This is excellent news. I will be continuing to follow this and I hope that Carpenter Media Group does the right thing and negotiates honestly with Everett NewsGuild ✊. The public is watching as am I. Everett Herald

We asked Carpenter for the legal bare minimum — to bargain with us before imposing layoffs — and it took a 2-day strike to get there. But we’re back to work today doing what we love, and we’ll begin negotiations with the company on Friday. Let’s save some newsroom jobs!

Taking a moment to express our sincere appreciation for everyone’s undying support. Your letters, donations and energy on the picket line have shown that you side with a free and robust local press. The workers of the Herald newsroom are forever grateful. Let’s keep it going!

Today we’re bringing our economic proposals to the table, and we are ready to fight for fair pay. 💪 We care deeply about the work we do, and want Cascade PBS to be a place where good journalists can stay. We think the organization does too — so let’s do this.

🚨 UPDATE: Anchorage Daily News management dismissed the 80% support from journalists wanting a union and instead ran to an anti-union law firm. America's journalists stand firmly with AnchorageNewsGuild! Sign this petition demanding management reverse course: bit.ly/supportANG

Cascade PBS says its “vision is to be the most essential and relevant media organization in the region.” Hate to break it to you, Cascade PBS, but that costs $. How do you expect to do that when you’re so behind the curve on compensating journalists? infogram.com/seattle-media-… (1/3)

Cascade PBS’s mission statement is “to inform and inspire our community to make the world a better place.” They could start by paying a living wage. Let’s hear from the community - do y’all find it inspiring that journalists at your local PBS affiliate are so underpaid? (3/3)
