The largest of several obvious holes in AI doomsday scenarios: AI needs power and materials that are provided by physical, human work

It is so crucial that if you have any suicidal impulse, you must understand it would not only destroy you, it'll destroy those you love, and any feeling telling you otherwise is lying to you.

I genuinely don't give a shit how much you SAY you care about climate change. If you support the policies that make it impossible to build clean energy, you're anti-climate and anti-science. This chart is humiliating for California Democrats.

The PlanetScale vector search and storage open beta is live! You can now store your vector data alongside your application's relational MySQL data — eliminating the need for a separate specialized vector database. planetscale.com/blog/announcin…

I'm stoked to showcase our implementation of vector search for PlanetScale. This is not a HNSW plug-in for MySQL (like pgvector, etc), it's a full fledged index managed by InnoDB that scales into terabytes of vector data. planetscale.com/blog/announcin…

HNSW is a great algorithm for static datasets, particularly if they fit in RAM. But I think it sucks for a relational database and we can do much better. We've based our novel implementation on two papers from Microsoft Research, SPANN and SPFresh.

PlanetScale vectors is now GA! We have made vectors a first-class part of MySQL - focusing on robustness to make sure vector support is as solid as every other data type MySQL supports. pscale.link/vectors

Database🤝MCP Today, we shipped MCP support for PlanetScale. This integration gives tools like Claude or Cursor read-only access to your organizations and databases, allowing you to interact with your DB using natural language. planetscale.com/changelog/mcp
