50 minutes on the phone with UnitedHealthcare this morning, not a single person could give me an answer. My surgery is in 20 minutes and I’m going to be putting $15,000 on my AMEX. What a useless company. Thanks for the added stress and anxiety during the toughest day of my life.

My surgery was FINALLY approved by UnitedHealthcare, 18 days after it was submitted by my provider. Now I’ve got to deal with getting the $14,000 reversed and refunded to my American Express card since I had to pay out of pocket yesterday before going under.

Celebrated my 44th birthday with arthroscopic surgery on my left shoulder to remove a large bone fragment in the joint and repair my torn labrum. Everything went great and now I’m home recovering. Props to The Orthopedic Partners and Park City Surgery Center for great care.

Plot twist, they denied part of my surgery - the debridement, which is medically necessary to remove frayed cartilage so they can repair my labrum. UnitedHealthcare is incompetent and evil.

75 hours post-op, no pain, and I'm working. I haven't taken anything more than acetaminophen and ibuprofen. I expected this to be one of the most painful weeks of my life. What a relief.

4 days post-op, still no pain, still sleeping just fine. Took my first shower and even put on shorts that didn’t have an elastic waistband. I think it’s safe to say at this point that I’m not gonna have any pain from this surgery, which is absolutely crazy! Boy did I get lucky!
