We’re getting closer to tip between La Salle Men’s Basketball and Davidson Basketball at Glaser Arena. Explorers look to build off an overtime win at St. Bonaventure last Saturday. Davidson has fared well through the early season (14-2), but has one road win. I’ll have coverage for Philadelphia Inquirer Sports.

La Salle came out sleepy. Davidson leads, 22-11, with 11:29 to play in the first half. The Wildcats are shooting 69% from the field including 4-of-8 from three. The Explorer defense needs to sharpen up to dig out of an early hole.

Davidson leads, 29-15, with 7:08 to go in the first. Fran Dunphy has been clapping and vocal on Explorers defensive possessions, which are being played on the La Salle bench side of the court. Deuce Jones injected a little life by snagging a DC outlet pass and driving for a score

Update: The Explorers are woking on it. With 11:42 to go in the game, La Salle trails, 56-53. Jones and White have been active defensively, which has led to points. Jones has 16, White, McKeithan and Lilley all have eight.

La Salle took its first lead of the game on a Shepherd left corner three against a zone look. Explorers are in the midst of a 12-2 run. Davidson looks rattled, Blums just dribbled the ball off his foot to give Explorers back possession. 61-58 with 7:56 to play.

Final: La Salle 79, Davidson 76. Some drama on the final inbounds, Davidson was arguing that Etienne was out of bounds when he received the pass, but ball game over. A second-half strong arming from the Explorers to get back into, then win this one.

Probably fortunate for La Salle that most of Philadelphia isn’t tuned into USA network right now. The Minutemen have rattled off a 21-1 run to take the game from tied at 57 with 8:47 remaining to a 20 point margin.
