1) Pirate metrics:

- Acquisition: Bringing users via external traffic channels to the product
- Activation: Users experiencing the AHA moment
- Engagement: Users engaging with the features
- Retention: Bring back people via triggers
- Monetisation: Making money from the product

2) User intent:

- Motivation that drives User's actions
- To get good at optimizing conversion, understand the user intent
- Conversion success is directly proportional to the intensity of user intent

3) User Intent is not User Needs

- Needs are higher level
- Intent is more specific and tangible
- Needs might be there but the intent changes based on where you’re in the journey
- Needs are unlikely to change fast
- Intent changes at every point of the user journey

4) Framework on User Intent:

- Creating intent - Viaadvertising, referrals, virality
- Acquiring intent - Via affiliates, emails, paid ads
- Shaping intent - Via purchase intent, delight, manage patience, address objections
- Serving intent - Reduce friction, bugs & glitches

5) How do we put all this into action?

- Determine your flow & the conversion metric
- Audit through visualization
- Bring in and align the broader team
- Determine & lay out the experimentation process
- Opportunities: Identity, backlog & prioritize
- Systemise the workstream
