This week, the Centre for Rights Education, Governance and Development (CREGD), in partnership with Kituo cha Sheria, convened a consultative forum with 20 Environmental Rights Defenders (ERDs) drawn from all seven sub-counties of Siaya County.

The meeting focused on key findings from our recent survey on human rights in the artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) sector, an important step in amplifying community voices and shaping local advocacy.

Earlier in the week, we also engaged Siaya County leadership, including the CECM for Water, Sanitation, Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources, the Inspector of Mines, NEMA Director, and Ag. County Commissioner.

This recognition strengthens our commitment to advancing inclusive governance, rights-based advocacy, and sustainable climate action in Kenya.

A proud milestone for us! Today, the Centre for Rights Education, Governance and Development (CREGD) was officially awarded the certificate of conferment as a full member of the Kenya Platform for Climate Governance (Kenya Platform for Climate Governance) Thread!!

Kenya Platform for Climate Governance is a civil society platform that brings together communities, CSOs, academia, youth, and women to advocate for climate justice and locally led climate action.

It also serves as Kenya's national platform for the PACJA working to hold the government accountable for its climate commitments, promote sustainable development, and drive action through working groups on adaptation, mitigation, gender, youth, and climate finance.
