Unfair labor practice filed by United Media Guild against Paxton Media, which wants to eliminate all current Southern Illinois News Guild staff. "In all my years of representing members in the news media industry, I have never seen a purchaser of a daily newspaper not retain the incumbent workforce."

Great to see other media taking notice of what's happening with Lee Enterprises' disgraceful sale of the Southern Illinoisan Illinoisan, which would eliminate all local newsroom jobs, including 10 Southern Illinois News Guild journalists. wsiltv.com/news/top-stori…

Workers The Washington Post have been in contract negotiations with our bosses for 18 months. But the company is refusing to pay us what we’re worth or bargain in good faith. So on Dec. 7, we’re walking off the job for 24 hours.

Statement from the L.A. Times Guild 🦅 on today's mass layoffs at the Los Angeles Times:

Chicago Tribune journalists are going on strike for 24 hours tomorrow for the first time in history. Chicago Tribune Guild has bargained for a fair contract since 2018. Alden responded by offering functional pay cuts & fewer benefits despite the Trib's profits. We're done playing games.

We and United Media Guild represent workers at Lee Enterprises' largest news operations and are Lee shareholders. Today, on the day of Lee's annual shareholder meeting, we call on Lee to start investing in local news and in its digital operations. The company's future depends on it.

The Lee Enterprises annual shareholder meeting lasted 9 minutes and Buffalo Newspaper Guild was the only shareholder to submit a question to executives. We asked, specifically, what investments Lee is making to improve its digital platforms? CEO Kevin Mowbray responded in generalities...

Today we begin bargaining for our third contract with Lee Enterprises, corporate owner of Omaha World-Herald. We are entering these negotiations with hope. But rest assured, we will continue the fight to #ProtectLocalNews. We live here, our families are here and we all need #LocalJournalism.

We are thrilled that the NLRB announced it’s seeking an injunction against the post-gazette.com. The PG could've avoided this by simply agreeing to dignified terms with us & our striking union siblings @cwaunion & PPPWU at any point in the last 18 months.. pghguild.com/2024/04/19/lab…
