The children Nursery Overchurch enjoyed lots of active creative play, identified different trees and continued to drill bug hotels at #OverchurchForestSchool today! Eco-Schools England

We began our week with ‘Making Monday’ and today was chocolate mud biscuits with dinosaur footprints! We loved working together, using our senses and choosing our favourite dinosaur to stomp in the mud!

Key report on early reading - snuggly reading matters for brain development, happiness, health, language development, etc. It matters as much if not more than phonics in the early stages of reading - snugly reading is the basics.

Super dino detectives in our school library this morning. We found and borrowed a book each about dinosaurs to look at and read in nursery. We talked about how special books are and how to look after them. #Overchurchlovesreading

Today in #OverchurchPE we were inspired by our story ‘Dinosaur Roar’ and moved like dinosaurs going fast, slow, high and low. We had big dinos, tiny ones, crawling, swimming and flying ones. We then played ‘T-Rex, T-Rex, T-Rex, Velociraptor’!

Another great trip to #OverchurchForestSchool with Nursery with lots of opportunities to challenge ourselves, play in nature and enjoy risky play with Overchurch Eco

Nursery have been retelling the story of the little red hen and today we made bread for snack tomorrow. This morning we mixed the flour, salt, oil, yeast and water together then watched it rise! This afternoon the children kneaded the bread and baked it! It looks & smells amazing

A lovely afternoon, mostly spent exploring outside. We were drawing, recipe making (in our mud kitchen), climbing, running, jumping, brushing (our extra large teeth!!), balancing, painting, chatting, thinking aloud, problem solving, sharing, negotiating, and playing a new game!

We took a trip over to the school field this morning and enjoyed some fun running races in preparation for sports day on Friday. This afternoon the whole school had a practise at staying in our team, following instructions and sitting in our number groups! Nursery were fantastic

We had a special visitor this morning. We could tell our dentist lots about how to brush teeth and we loved the story she read about someone who didn’t like brushing their teeth!

What a busy few days! We LOVED the biggest apparatus in our last PE session in the hall. Our next 2 weeks of PE will be in our outside area.

Paula and the kitchen staff looked after us and helped show us all what to do.

Such superstars eating their lunch or tasting some of our options this week. We will have another visit next week. Thank you to all the Reception teaching staff and assistants for their help on Wednesday.

Lots of opportunities to explore our feelings and ways to regulate our emotions this week.

We lọved harvesting our green beans and nearly all of us tried them. They were delicious and sweet and lots of children ate 5 or 6 until we ran out! Eco-Schools England Overchurch Eco

We were very sensible walking to our hall for our lunch today. Super tray carrying and trying food, sitting with our friends. We also saw some of our new teachers and teaching assistants.

A farewell treat from our current Friends Of Overchurch Infant School who have done a tremendous job of fundraising for our school over the past 4 years. Thanks to the committee for all their time and great ideas 💡
