Looks like I’ve become a Yimby! I campaigned to build 30 low cost, ready to move in, new build units to help solve London’s housing crisis… for Sand Martins. New nesting holes are now complete & Martins have returned from Africa ready to move into their new homes in Barking

Great to see that our leaky barriers were still slowing the flow in ditches in Bedelands Nature Reserve today! πŸ˜€ Reducing peak flow, trapping sediment, improving water quality πŸ‘Œ

It takes a special kind of bravery (or madness!) to spend a freezing February day jumping into rivers & riding rapids. All in the name of river safety. πŸ’¦πŸš‘ Throw lines were caught, obstacles navigated, & eddies gave refuge. Well done team! May your toes gain feeling again! πŸ₯Ά

Very productive day with a great team from Environment AgencySE making swales and leaky barriers in woodland above Newhaven. All helping to #slowtheflow and reduce flood risk while creating some useful wildlife habitat. #StoringTheStorm

Beautiful day for a River Ranger session. Worked on clearing bullrush, sedge, and common reeds in the channel, managing bramble next to a wildlife pond and removing spent rabbit guards! 🌞🐟🌱 Very excited to find lots of tadpoles and frogspawn in the scrapes, ponds, & stream 🐸

Thames Water discharged 50% more raw sewage in 2024 than the previous year. If current levels of regulation can't prevent year on year decline, will our rivers survive government plans to "cut red tape"? theguardian.com/business/2025/…

Great to see our urban wetlands in Ringmer looking great in the spring sunshine. Heron and ducks feeding and lots of native wetland plants on show. #StoringTheStorm

Very exciting to revisit berms we installed in the autumn on the Teville stream & find 12 inches of accumulated sediment. Some have even sprouted native marginal plants! πŸ’§πŸŒ±πŸ’ͺ Moorhen, kingfisher, stickleback & early damselfly using the rewiggled habitat! #MakeRiversBendAgain

Spring is well and truly popping at our restored EPIC chalk stream site. Exciting to see Snake's head fritillary & cowslips return! Our reptile survey setup was rewarded with slow worm sightings. The brook is looking great with ramshorns, starwort, blue water & newts aplenty!
