My 5-year old son today defined greed as “When someone wants to eat everything and not wanting others to eat.” So, let’s share what we have- food, money, wealth, power etc with others. That’s the antidote to greed.

I’ve lately been thinking about the role of a pastor. I’ve come to the conclusion that a pastor is a SHEPHERD-LEADER not just a preacher. As a shepherd, a pastor cares for the flock ( feeds and protects). As a leader, a pastor guides the flock ( provides vision and direction).

In the O.Testament, God prescribed daily, weekly, monthly and annual offerings which the Israelites presented to him. Through regular offerings, God wanted the Israelites to make worship a way of life. Let’s make worship a way of life not something we do only in church on Sundays

Easter reminds us of God’s sacrificial love for us. “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us”(Rom. 5:8). “God had Christ, who was sinless, take our sin so that we might receive God's approval through him”(2 Cor. 5:21).

Since God showed us his sacrificial love by sending his Son, Jesus to die on a cross for us, will you also demonstrate sacrificial love to someone? Sacrificial love is love displayed in giving up something valuable (dear) or laying down one’s life for another person’s benefit

“A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare.” ( Proverbs 15:1) A timeless principle of communication taught in the Bible by King Solomon.

Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God (Proverbs 30: 8-9).

God-fearing people pray: “Keep your servant from deliberate sins! Don’t let them control me. Then I will be free of guilt and innocent of great sin. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.” ( Psalm 19: 13-14)

Today is Father’s Day in Australia. To some people, Father’s Day means nothing due to painful experiences they’ve had with their fathers. However, though you haven’t had a a good relationship with your father you can be a good parent. The church has taught me to be a good father.

I grew up without a father. But I’ve learnt principles that guide me in my role as a father in the church. In advanced countries like Australia, many people have no interest in the church. However, it’s in the church people can learn to be responsible citizens and good parents.

“For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of man” ( 2 Corinthians 8: 21). Integrity is doing what is RIGHT before GOD and PEOPLE.
