Year 5 had an online author talk today with Piers Torday who told us all about how he became a writer and about the books he has written!

Y5M talked about friendship in RE today and wrote a friendship quality we think is important on hearts. We have put them up on display in our classroom window.

We’ve been working on factors in our maths lessons this week. To help us find factors and common factors we drew some factor bugs.

Year 5 attended the Year 6 Harvest Celebration in church this afternoon, we enjoyed watching the service.

Year 5 had a visit from the Fire Service today WiganFire we had a safety talk about being safe on bonfire night and how to behave around fires and fireworks. We got to see a fire engine as well!

Year 5 have been busy starting to learn the Samba this afternoon as part of their new dance unit.

Year 5 took part in #STEM day today by working in teams to create a card rollercoaster. We tested our rollercoasters with marbles to check their strength and to see if they worked. We did a fantastic job!

We’ve been using fraction walls to help us find equivalent fractions in maths today.

This afternoon on science, we’ve been using newton meters to measure mass and weight.

Year 5 took part in remembrance this week. We read a poem called ‘Poppies’ and created art on and around the poem with the theme of poppies.

Year 5 took part in #RoadSafetyWeek this week. We talked about how to be safe on the roads. We completed a missing word activity in partners about road safety and a word search.
