Families were happy as a clam at our mollusk-themed home-school day this week. They learned to identify bivalves, observed our octopus & learned about its anatomy, got crafty with squid & paint, & explored the exhibits at our Visitor Center OSU Hatfield. bit.ly/2sFhFFu

Registration is full for our #StateOfTheCoast conference Nov. 4 but the keynote at 9:15 will be livestreamed at live.oregonstate.edu. Emmy-winning Darryl Thomas, a dance professor Western Oregon University, will talk about how art can convey science, & there will be a performance.



Students in our recent career day visited OSU Hatfield & learned about research on farming sea urchins & seaweed.


Families in our homeschool day this week explored our Visitor Center OSU Hatfield. They steered a simulated research ship through a virtual Yaquina Bay, touched sea urchins in the indoor tide pool & learned about topography in the interactive sandbox.


👏Congrats to Tracy Crews on being named the associate director of education for Oregon Sea Grant. She now leads our Visitor Center OSU Hatfield, the Oregon Coast STEM hub & our K-12 marine education program. She has been managing the latter since 2008. bit.ly/40yFhXR
