Ss in Kristen Dalton practiced #DesignThinking in response to Peter H. Reynolds #OurTable. They designed ,and talked about, the tables they made, inspired by Violet!
Shared #MollysPilgrim with Oak Park Fifth Grade 🦈 and was so pleased when one student made the connection to hearing #TheHundredDresses as a read aloud in 4th grade; she was able to compare and contrast characters in the books! . #ClassicKidLit #MakingConnections
Ss in Oak Park Fifth Grade 🦈 completed a “genre personality “ activity to find out what kinds of books they like but also, hopefully, what kinds of books they should consider based on their answers.
Ss in Kelly Rice helped to kick off birthday weekend (as did all of my classes) but 4th grade topped it off with a song and this sweet note.🥺🥺#OPSharks are the best.
Ss in SixthGradeSquad and EricaDeVoseNPSD were diligent in their #DigitalCompass lessons, earning the privilege of extra #DesignThinking time. ❤️the teamwork and problem solving—looking forward to the gasps from the other classes! Update: ALL five other classes respected their work!
Tiny bit late for Hour of Code but Ss in Kristen Dalton got started the non-tech way! First we enjoyed #HowToCatchAnElf by AdamWallace, and then we sequenced the plot, a great precursor to coding skills!
A little team building and communication skills to start the new year. Ss in Oak Park Fifth Grade 🦈 used some unique strategies to build their structures. Some recalled the challenge from 4th grade with Kelly Rice and we took it up a notch with a no-hands version. Lots of laughs!
Ss in Laurie Corradetti started their biography research unit by enjoying Martin’s Big Words(on his actual birthday) by Doreen Rappaport and Bryan Collier . Then we used #PebbleGo by Capstone 📚 to start our research!
Warms the ♥️ to see a member of SixthGradeSquad teach a younger #OPShark a new (to him 😏) game! Love the patience she showed ; his smile says it all!
Love that these Ss in Christina Bortnichak enjoyed these #Caldecott books so much when we read them together , they wanted to borrow them to read again!
Doing some collection development at the Strand Book Store . Glad to see some titles we have and found some to add to our next order! 📚📚
Our yearly endeavor… this year they stepped it up with Gordon Ramsay on the wishlist.😋 Laurie Corradetti
Ss in OP2ndGrade capped off the end of their #baldeagle research by enjoying this live cam from #FriendsofBigBearValley. A K student from Christina Bortnichak noticed the feed when he came for class and asked if I knew that there was a football team named the Philadelphia Eagles. Who knew? 😏
Perfect day for our #STEM projects! Ss in Kristen Dalton made a variety of bridges to conclude our transportation research and OP2ndGrade worked on their animal habitats! #InventorsDay
We were some #LuckyDuck (s) today! Not only did #GregPizzoli create artwork just for Ss in OP2ndGrade , Kindergarten students in Christina Bortnichak snagged some of his rarely available books to borrow!
Turns out I’m really NOT smarter than a 5th grader! Ss in Oak Park Fifth Grade 🦈 challenged me to #Jeopardy and I, uh, lost.😬
Wrapping up ancient civilization research with some #Stem. Ziggurats and cuneiform writing! SixthGradeSquad EricaDeVoseNPSD
Our fourth graders have been hosting Kindergarten students for buddy reading. Perfect spot to do it; think our beloved #MissSobotkin would approve.🥹 Oak Park Fifth Grade 🦈 Christina Bortnichak Kelly Rice
