The Hungarian State Opera HungarianStateOpera has announced its 2025-6 season, featuring 37 opera titles including new productions of Lohengrin, Fidelio, Così fan tutte and the premiere of a new double bill, The Verdict (János Vajda) and Royal Highness (György Selmeczi).


The 2025-6 season at Boston Lyric Opera Boston Lyric Opera, just announced, includes Macbeth, Vanessa, La Fille du régiment and installation performances of Das Lied von der Erde.


The Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra is once again convening under Keri-Lynn Wilson. Some of this summer’s concerts will include Maxim Kolomiiets’s Suite from The Mothers of Kherson—first taste of an opera jointly commissioned by the Metropolitan Opera & Opera Narodowa.


The bass-baritone Nicholas Brownlee has won the $50,000 Tucker Foundation 2025 Richard Tucker Award. Richard Tucker Career Grants go to Meridian Prall, Nikola Printz & Ricardo José Rivera; Sara Tucker Study Grants go to Daniel Luis Espinal, Ben Reisinger & Finn Sagal.

The soprano Seohyun Go has won the Guildhall School of Music & Drama Guildhall School’s Music Gold Medal 2025.






Paul Dukas's only opera, Ariane et Barbe-bleue, was premiered in Paris Opéra-Comique #OTD in 1907, based on the play by Maurice Maeterlinck; the role of Ariane was created in both the play and opera by his partner, the great actress and singer Georgette Leblanc.
