Victim blaming is where the observer takes the blame away from the perpetrator and lays it at the door of the victim. Why did you stay so long Why didn't you leave/tell someone etc etc It makes them feel strong, as if it would never happen to them. Good luck with that one

I second this. It's why I will continue to tell survivors, you are the ONLY authority on your own trauma and pain.

If you have to ask why a child didn’t tell about sexual abuse, it’s not the child you don’t understand - it’s the perpetrator you don’t understand.

In their jobs or roles in the community my former parents were both #safeguarding officers too & have had training to identify & process safeguarding issues…but this knowledge doesn’t stretch to when I’m the one needing to be safeguarded. #ChildhoodSexualAbuse #narcissisticabuse
