4th June 2014 - Grimsby complete the signing of experienced 29 year old midfielder Scott Brown on a one year deal. Voted Southport's play of the year in 2013/14, in his first season, Scott would go on to make 38 appearances including the heartbreaking playoff final defeat. #GTFC

5th June 2012 - Grimsby sign Andy Cook from Barrow for an undisclosed fee. In an impressive first season Andy scores 16 goals in all competitions, including the opener at Wembley in the FA Trophy Final. He is also voted as the National League's Young Player of the Year. #GTFC

5th June 2006 - After Russell Slade's departure for Yeovil, Grimsby appoint his former assistant Graham Rodger as manager. Rodger, who had also been assistant to Paul Groves had a successful spell as caretaker in 2004 but was overlooked by the board in favour of Nicky Law! #GTFC

5th June 2022 - Grimsby end a remarkable National League playoff campaign by beating Solihull Moors 2-1 after extra time at West Ham's London Stadium. The Mariners, who were behind in every game equalising through John McAtee before Jordan Maguire-Drew's winner. Att: 22,897 #GTFC

6th June 1988 - After successive relegations, Fourth Division Grimsby task Kettering manager Alan Buckley with the job of securing the club's future. Starting with only a handful of contracted players, Buckley works miracles and within 3 years Town are back in Division Two. #GTFC

6th June 1951 - Bill Shankly is appointed Grimsby Town manager. In his first season two club records are set, 11 straight league wins and the highest ever league attendance of 26,605. Home form is P23 W19 D2 L2! Town finished second however only the champions were promoted. #GTFC

6th June 2022 - BBC Look North reflect on Grimsby Town's remarkable playoff campaign that saw them win three games, all in extra time, all after falling behind. The "comeback kings" led for only 29 of the 360+ minutes they played. A return to the Football League confirmed. #GTFC

7th June 1992 - James (Jimmy) Maddison, one of Grimsby's stars of the 1950's dies aged 67. Maddison, a winger played for Town from 1950-1959 making 291 appearances, scoring 44 goals but more importantly supplying pinpoint crosses for the likes of Billy Cairns & Ron Rafferty #GTFC

7th June 1956 - Grimsby manager Allenby Chilton returns to Manchester United to sign winger Johnny Scott for £1500. One of the most skilful players to play for Town, Johnny is the only serving Mariner to appear at a World Cup, representing Northern Ireland in Sweden in 1958 #GTFC

7th June 2022 - Thousands of Mariners' fans line the streets of Grimsby and Cleethorpes as Grimsby Town's players and staff celebrate promotion with an open top bus tour before being welcomed at Grimsby Town Hall for a civic reception. #GTFC

7th June 1988 - A day after agreeing to become the new manager of Grimsby Town, former Kettering boss Alan Buckley arrives in Cleethorpes and signs a three-year contract. By the end of it, the club would have been promoted twice and reached the FA Cup 5th round. #GTFC
