Thanks to No Limits Helicopters, Mountain Skills Academy, & great guide Jess Lenters, I had an amazing closeup of an ice cave on
Lillooet glacier in the Pemberton ice cap complex that covers hundreds of square kms. The ancient blue ice has been dated as far back as 20,000 years.

Amazing day visiting Pemberton icecap - incredible wilderness: glaciers, ice, volcanic peaks! Summer melt from these glaciers is essential for nearby rivers. The ice cap faces climate change pressures. Kudos to No Limits Heli & guide Jess Lenters for a great tour.MSA Adventures

Great to see many local groups planning river clean-ups for Earth Day on April 22. A group in London, Ontario is taking a thoughtful and intentional approach in a complex situation.

Dozens of Pacific Great Blue Herons have returned to nest in their traditional rookery near a Deer Lake creek in Burnaby, BC. Only 4-5000 nesting adults remain in Canada, so it's exciting, and perhaps encouraging, to see these striking birds returning to our city.

A network of cenotes lines much of Playa del Carmen, Mexico. A cenote is a natural well & derives from the Yucatec Mayan word “tz'onot”. Cenotes provided water for the ancient Mayans. Highly visited, I was impressed by the efforts of local tour operators to protect them.

Frozen rivers are beautiful too! After two winters of unsafe conditions, prolonged cold temperatures mean Ottawa’s iconic Rideau Canal Skateway is open. 30 centimetres of clear ice is required and huge numbers have turned out to enjoy this great Canadian tradition (photo: CTV)

A beautiful Red Winged Blackbird near the outlet of Eagle Creek by Burnaby Lake, BC. The birds, often found in wetlands, have a distinct call & males have bright red markings that are even more pronounced a little later in the year.

Developing a plan like this is a positive step and should help resolve the long-standing issues at Gill Bar where unchecked off-road use has impacted fish and fish habitat.
