Pierre Jahan. La Mort et les Statues. 1946. Jahan published a book in collaboration with Jean Cocteau; โ€˜Death and the Statuesโ€™. Jahan had found a pile of statues in a Parisian breaker's yard ripped from their plinths by the Nazis to be melted down for their metal. Symbolic.
