Last week, we presented our work on transparently accelerating Linux networking at ACM HotNets in Austin. Instead of bypassing the kernel, we speed up Linux, maintaining its ecosystem of functionality and tools. dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/35…

The internet is the most technically complex system humanity has ever built. Jim Kurose, Professor at UMass Amherst, has been challenged to explain the internet to 5 different people; a child, a teen, a college student, a grad student, and an expert.

In this guest post on the APNIC blog, I give an overview of our work on demystifying Zoom and its protocols and measuring the performance of Zoom sessions. We are able to perform these measurements using passively collected packets only. #zoom #videoconferencing

1. A score of 1.5% (0.5/30!) on an electrical eng midterm at IITM (5th sem). Somehow pulled off a decent grade thanks to the final. 2. Much much worse, failed my PhD oral prelim exam at Berkeley. Retook it, passed, but stressful! It’s not how you fail, but how you fight thru it.

On Alumni Day, Robert Kahn, a co-inventor of the fundamental communication protocols at the heart of the internet, received Princeton University's highest award for grad alumni, the James Madison Medal. Dr. Kahn, front row center, celebrated with COS and ECE faculty. Congrats!

Spent an amazing time at Princeton chatting with friends and colleagues! The university has serious Hogwarts vibes and the beer selection on tap in nearby pubs is simply amazing! Thanks for hosting Oliver Michel! Looking forward to future visits 😃

Just noticed that #TMA2023 is motivating researchers to report "negative results" in their measurements. Great job! 👏👏👏 I hope this trend of highlighting the negative results catches on within the networking and systems community!

“It’s a super exciting feeling to have this technology you developed in the lab with all these really rigorous tests finally running in a truck. This will save a lot of lives.” Learn how Felix Heide and @torcrobotics are making roads safer. bit.ly/3Le3uvr

Our measurement framework, Athena, removes the fog through which today’s video-conferencing applications see the network, paving the way for higher QoE. I presented Athena at ACM SIGCOMM HotNets ’24. Please have a look at our paper with Jennifer Rexford: dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/36…
