I am currently in Antananarivo Madagascar, attending the 4th High-Level Ministerial Conference on the role of RECs, RMs and Governments in promoting the Youth, Peace and Security Agenda in COMESA Island States

This session explored progress in developing the NAPs on YPS across member states, w/ a focus on identifying gaps & opportunities to enhance youth contributions to national and regional peacebuilding frameworks. It also focused on understanding the CFYPS & pillars #4thHLMC2024

Engaging discussions on advancing the Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS) agenda focused on exploring opportunities within the pillars of YPS while emphasizing collaboration among Member States, the AU, RECs, COMESA & partners to amplify peacebuilding efforts across the continent.

Day three illuminated the power of youth leadership in peacebuilding, with National Youth Councils from Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles & Comoros sharing innovative strategies for continental empowerment and collective action towards peace and security. #4thHLMC2024 #YPSAgenda

The establishment of a regional cross collaboration forum for young people in the island states to promote the YPS agenda was highlighted as a concrete way forward #4thHLMC2024

Beyond inspiration lies implementation: A dynamic panel explored the critical path forward for NYC's, focusing on transforming conference insights into concrete actions through strategic sharing of best practices & sustainable implementation to drive YPS initiatives back home.
