Tree power. 🌳 💪🏽 A rowan, taking advantage of pre-existing fractures, seeded into this rock face, its roots further breaking up the substrate. An ecosystem is a community of both living things and more inert elements like rock, water, air. 🌎

Some more photos of the absolute abundance of berries on the rowan trees (Sorbus aucuparia) in Glen Affric 2 days ago. There was also lots of old man's beard lichen (Usnea filipendula) on some silver birches (Betula pendula), along with the last of their autumn-coloured leaves.
