This #OldCoventry is dedicated to chemist Wyatt Wingrave, a gifted photographer who owned a store in High Street (pictured). These incredible images were captured c1860 with chemicals used from his store. He was more than likely the only photographer in the area at this time

Wyatt Wingrave’s store is the ground floor of the timber framed building now long gone. He would have used heavy glass plates which were slotted into a huge camera as film was yet to be invented. c1860 #OldCoventry #WyattWingrave

An c1860 Greyfriars Green still has some recognisable remaining features like the Quadrant and the Spires but if you look closely there is imagery of Christchurch which was lost during the Blitz leaving just the spire today #WyattWingrave #OldCoventry

And finally my personal favourite from Coventry chemist #WyattWingrave an unrecognisable c1860 Broadgate with its cobbles, awnings and carriages, sadly demolished in the 1930’s to make way for the motor car, years before the Luftwaffe inflicted more devastation. #OldCoventry
