Tariffs on yellow peas to India makes government action to restore access to our largest market-China-even more important. Pea farmers now face major market access barriers in their two largest markets, which account for 80% of exports. See Pulse Canada’s statement below.

Over the last five years, Canada has shipped on average 1.50 million tonnes of yellow peas to China that’s worth C$800 million to C$1 billion a year to this industry If only they were EV peas...

1981 I had the privilege to read In Flanders Fields to our school assembly. Afterwards, a WWII vet approached and while sobbing, said "Don't forget them. I'm afraid they'll forget them". That stuck with me. Anyone that believes the poppy is a political statement is wrong.

The Canadian Ag sector is over 3 times larger than the auto industry, and employs more than twice as many Canadians. If CDN EV tariffs were about the economy and not ON votes, the issue would be solved already.

Not sure why Lilley is surprised by this concept of protecting one industry at the expense of others. Carney has been penalizing pea and canola farmers to protect the Ontario EV industry that might build one someday. Ag is 7% of Canada's GDP & Autos are 2%.
