Precisely my route to a Ph.D: Was planning on a Masters UVA Economics but the DGS, Wake Epps, suggested that I immediately start at Ph.D. Up to that point I'd not event dreamt of doing so. Raising others' aspirations—when it's not unreasonable to do—is an important part of our work.
