Last Saturday I swapped ladders and binoculars for gloves and gumshield to compete at my karate club's national championships in Sheffield. No medals for me on this occasion, but still a great day. Black Belt Open 45-54 Years followed by Black Belt Open (18+) Team Kumite.

Karate update! On Sunday I attended a formal exam ('grading') in Bradford. Horrendous 3-hour experience, ending with 10 x 2 mins sparring v 10 different oppos with no breaks. Didn't expect to pass - some do, some don't - but was graded to 2nd Dan. Surveying update coming soon!
