I’m excited about this paper about DMRG on GPUs. Örs Legeza’s group has been working on this for a while but 246 TF/s FP64 is pretty amazing on a single DGX-H100 node. This opens the door to solving hard multi reference problems quickly. pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…

Sept 20, 1954: John Backus & team at IBM run the 1st FORTRAN program, which was developed to aid use of the IBM 704 computer. In Nov 1954, the team will release spec for prospective customers which states that FORTRAN stood for "FORmula TRANslating system" #supercomputing #HPC
