O my! The way I want to weep. These comments tell me we have a far bigger problem than I'd ever imagined. PLEASE, DEAR AFRICAN, YOU ARE NOT INFERIOR. You are disadvantaged.

It is not a comparison between cultures (sociology) but between races (biology). There is the stinking idea that there is a genetically-coded inferiority.

When you're not getting enough garri for the sugar you offer, you negotiate a better deal for yourself. Maybe demand for cassava. You don't seize your sugar altogether. There's no amount of 'only sugar' that will cure your hunger.

Terrible use of words here. But there's sufficient literature that explains the social problem you're referring to. Moreso, it is easily solved. And yes, Google it.

Today, my heart is overwhelmed with a joy words can barely hold. I think the time is finally right to share this story… In 2018, I met Jamiu. He was a curious kid, brilliant and full of light. At the time, he was working as a roadside mechanic in the slums of Majidun, Ikorodu.

I think all history essays should contain relevant media like maps & images, It's the best way for any reader to visualise specific places that are no longer extant Africa is huge, most people can't accurately pinpoint 5 places on its map, and even fewer know what they look like

This video and the comments remind me of an answer Hilary Mantel gave about reading modern day sensibilities into historical contexts. I'm not sure it's a thing we will ever not do. And perhaps rightfully so.

That Ken Saro-Wiwa podcast done by The Republic is an essential piece of journalism. History is a fragile and contested terrain indeed. However,a decent attempt at objectivity is evident in that work. Now on the last episode of the series, and I wish to thank the producers.

This is one issue I would have loooved to contribute to. I have this weird essay I title 'US and Africa; The Conspiracies and the Tendencies' Oh my!! Interestingly scandalous.

I should say that I've never had an essay be so thoroughly attended to like The Republic editors did with this one. At times it felt like an essay-writing masterclass. Thank you, The Republic. Sincerely, thank you.
