Using wire and beads to create timelines of historical figures the students have been researching. Students represented important events with different colors & materials. Every bead tells a story. Some students extended by creating timelines of their own lives. #playfulinquiry

Developing #culturesofthinking through #ProjectZero visible thinking routines. Students worked with the Making Meaning Routine to co-construct words, phrases, connections, and questions around the concept of civilizations. Together they built a shared definition. #schutzdazzles

What do you notice? Students investigated rocks, minerals, and fossils and recorded 3 things: questions, theories, and connections. We will use this data to co-create where we go next with our learning. #pyp #inquiry #schutzdazzles

Today, some students helped me to reimagine our Wonder Wall in a new location. Previously on a small and high bulletin board, our Wonder Wall now lives at student level, ready to be interacted with, sorted, and added to! @kjinquiry Trevor MacKenzie #wonderwall

Leading our PYP Program of Inquiry Review through the Playful Participatory Research protocol and the CME design framework. We layered the concepts of authenticity with wonder, choice, and delight and reflected on our learning by physically layering materials. #schutzdazzles

Student initiated art installation: the wishing tree. I love seeing our students taking ownership of their learning, being leaders in the elementary school, and taking action! #pyp #agency #schutzdazzles

Learning together with some community partners, Donitna Association for the Visually Impaired, as we inquire into the UN Rights of the Child. Students explored Braille communication + weaving techniques as a part of their field research into a child's right to no discrimination.

Knowing your students is one thing. Your students knowing they are known, that is something entirely different. For some scholars knowing they are seen, valued, and cared for makes the impossible possible, makes the excluded included, and makes the inequitable equitable.

Creating classroom agreements in the beginning of the school year is one of my favorite ways to begin enabling students to own their learning. "We need to sign it because we are the authors." -Grade 4 student #learneragency #schutzdazzles

Today's air quality was too bad for outdoor recess. I heard, "How will we know when the air is safe enough to play outside?" Students collected Air Quality Index data, observed dust around campus, and created their own tests to find out more. #authenticlearning #inquiry

I'm so grateful to be a part of this community and to be celebrating International Peace Day today as two schools under one roof. Thank you, students from Khartoum American School, for sharing your experiences on peace, war, and resilience.

I had the honor of leading a workshop on Nurturing Playful Inquiry in the PYP Classroom at the annual IBSEA conference in Cairo. I loved sharing successful practices and connecting with other passionate educators from all around Egypt.

Grade 4 field research trip to discover characteristics of ancient civilizations through primary sources. We visited Rashid, where the Rosetta Stone was uncovered. It was dug up in Fort Julian, a fortress made from stones of ancient Egyptian temples. History coming to life!
